Jury Presidents

Industry professionals will take the role of jury presidents at the Creative Belgium Awards in 2025. With their expertise and keen eye for creativity, they will guide our juries in recognising the finest works of last year.

Jesse Van Gysel, Creative Director at Mutant

"Classic doesn’t have to be classic. Actually, I hate the name of this category. Audio, Print, Outdoor and Film aren’t classic, they’re fundamental. They are the purest executions of the raw building blocks of creativity: imagery, sound and copy.

I want to see how creatives rearranged these building blocks in a new way that surprises me. And I mean me: the human. Not me: the jury member at an award show. Think with your gut, feel with your brain, execute to perfection.

" Did you know that as a kid, Jesse was the champion of Belgium in gymnastics? And now he couldn’t reach his toes if his life depended on it  🤸‍♂️

Chenling Zhang, Sr. Media & Comms Strategist at mortierbrigade

"I’m looking forward to be swept away and (re)discovering creative and connecting brand stories. I’m a rational emotionalist, so very curious how the campaigns combine creativity with the necessary data and human insights."

Did you know that if Chenling didn’t work in advertising, she'd probably be organising her own filmfestival? She gets way too excited talking about movies and scenes in movies that are permanently burned on her cornea  🎬

Kasper Janssens, Executive Creative Director at VML Belgium

"As the Jury President in Experience my job is to reward only the very best work of 2024. Cases that not only define the Experience categories but perhaps even reinvent them. Work that ideally starts from a powerful insight or a smart discovery. Because crafting doesn’t begin with execution; it starts with the idea itself. The winning selection can afford to be highly selective.

Winning a Creative Belgium award should mean something. And it will only continue to do so if we award it solely to the very best.

" Did you know that Kasper was born with a figure-eight knot in his umbilical cord  ♾️

Roxane Schneider, Creative Director at FCB New York

"Craft is not about one decision, one person, or one meeting. It’s about a combination. It’s about bringing together a team that shares the same obsession for excellence—not just creatives, but every single person who pushes the work forward. Craft is about refusing shortcuts and embracing the road that feels impossible—the one that makes you say, “This is going to be insane”—and going for it anyway.

True craft is in the details, in the choices that elevate an idea from good to unforgettable. It’s not always something you see, but something you feel. It’s that moment when a campaign gives you chills because you know—deep down—that the team behind it fought for every inch, challenged every limit, and never settled for good enough.

Craft is resilience. It’s hearing multiple production companies say it can’t be done but finding that one small company that says, “We have no idea how to do it, but we’ll find a way.” It’s the belief that every tiny decision matters because, in the end, that passion shines through in the work.

Craft is the fire, the fight, and the fearless pursuit of something greater—together. And I can’t wait to feel, hear, and see that fire."

Sacha Lempereur, Head of Art at Publicis Groupe Belgium

"Design is everywhere. It plays a crucial role in communication: before reading a text or understanding an idea, it’s design that grabs attention, sets the tone, and shapes perception. Design defies codes, sparks interest, or triggers rejection. It guides us, transports us, instills confidence, or unsettles us. And the bar for outstanding design has never been higher.

It’s not just about aesthetics; design should be strategic, subtle, and seamlessly integrated into a broader vision. Creating beauty for beauty’s sake is meaningless at this level. Great design must be impactful, convey a clear message, and make every element purposeful.

The design has the power to immerse and leave a lasting impression. More than just a functional or graphic object, it should evoke emotion, create a connection, and leave a lasting mark. In a world oversaturated with information and visuals, we will put impact, innovation, transformation and beauty at the heart of our evaluation.

My role will be to guide the jury in this analysis - beyond just looking good. What are the design choices? Where is the innovation? Does the project address accessibility or sustainability issues? Does it have a truly significant impact?"

Did you know that Sacha's dyslexia taught him to think differently? And that's what allowed him to develop a unique approach to design 💭

Jonathan Detavernier, Chief Strategy Officer at AKQA Brussels

If you fall in love with a campaign, but you can’t put your finger on it why that is, it’s often because of the strategy behind it. An invisible force that shapes the best campaigns. In our jury we will look for the most daring, the most simple, the most innovative strategies that form the basis for great work and inspire future generations.

Did you know that Jonathan started his career in digital, helped building one of the first De Mol websites, and because of that, till today tells his children to know who De Mol is without even watching De Mol?
